🌍 Quote Glow #3 │On Nelson Mandela Day – The Power of Being Inspired

Wisdom words from Nelson Mandela inspirational quote Quote Glow

📖Lead-in

Today, July 18th, is Nelson Mandela Day.

During my time studying in the U.S., I had an experience one summer that I’ve never forgotten.
I noticed a piece of paper pinned carelessly to a school bulletin board. It was a printed speech—slightly crumpled and unassuming. But as I read it, something struck me. It felt as though the words were speaking directly to me.

I asked if I could borrow it, and with permission, I made a copy at school and tucked it into my notebook—like a small treasure I had just been given.

Over the years, I’ve shared it several times because the message moved me so deeply. And today, when Mandela’s image appeared on my screen, it brought that memory flooding back:

🌕 The Quote

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

This quote, famously shared in Mandela’s 1994 inaugural address (originally written by Marianne Williamson), still resonates deeply.

🏉 The Power of Being Inspired

I remember watching the film Invictus, which portrays how Mandela used rugby to help unite a divided South Africa. There’s a powerful scene where he meets with the captain of the national rugby team. Rather than delivering a speech, Mandela simply asks:

“What do you do to bring out the best in your team?”

The captain is unsure how to respond.
Then Mandela says, brightly, with warmth and conviction:

“You inspire them.”

That moment has always stayed with me.
Because when someone is genuinely inspired, they begin to awaken something within themselves.
It’s not about authority or control—it’s about presence, belief, and the light we allow to shine.

💌 On This Mandela Day

Today, I’m remembering that folded paper—simple, humble, but powerful.
It found me once when I needed it, and I share it again now, hoping it finds someone else.

Let your light shine.
You never know who might find strength in its glow.

🕊Kaha’s Note

Divine message — I believe the message meant for you will always find its way, no matter where you are or what you’re going through. I trust this one will reach someone who needs it, too.
