🍃 Lead-in

Lemongrass carries a very different energy from heavier or sweeter scents.

Fresh, bright, and uplifting,
its aroma seems to fill a space almost instantly,
bringing a sense of clarity and lightness to the day.

As the weather becomes warmer and more humid,
I often find myself reaching for lemongrass more frequently.

A small amount can refresh a room,
lift my mood, and create a feeling of freshness that feels especially welcome during early summer.

Lemongrass is also a popular scent during insect season and is often found in room sprays, bath products, and outdoor blends.

Recently, I have been enjoying a lemongrass water spray at home.
Its clean, refreshing scent feels simple and natural, making it easy to include in everyday life.

Let’s explore this bright and refreshing plant and the many ways it can bring freshness into daily routines.

🧾 Lemongrass Oil Basics

Lemongrass is a tropical grass appreciated for its bright, citrus-like aroma and refreshing character.

Its scent is often described as fresh, green, and citrus-like, with a character that feels both lively and herbaceous.

Beyond aromatics, lemongrass is also widely used in Asian cuisine and is perhaps best known as one of the characteristic ingredients in the Thai soup Tom Yum Goong.

Popular in room sprays, bath products, and seasonal outdoor blends, lemongrass is often chosen when a space or mood could benefit from a little extra freshness.

🗺️ Origin: China, Guatemala, India, Java
🌿 Botanical Name: Cymbopogon citratus
🌱 Part Used: Leaves
💧 Extraction: Steam-distilled
🍋 Scent: Fresh, citrus-like, green, herbaceous
🎵 Note: Top
🌀 Energy: Refreshing, uplifting, clarifying
💚 Uses: Room sprays, bath products, seasonal outdoor blends, emotional refreshment, warming body care

⚠️ Note:

Use diluted preparations before applying to the skin.

Some sources recommend using lemongrass oil at concentrations below 50%, as naturally occurring aldehydes may irritate sensitive skin.

Always use according to your individual skin sensitivity.

🌿 Ways to Bring Scent Magic Into Your Life

Lemongrass brings a different kind of energy into everyday life.

Bright, fresh, and uplifting, its scent feels especially welcome during warmer months when the air becomes heavier and more humid.

Unlike deeper oils often used for rest and restoration, Lemongrass is often appreciated for its ability to refresh both spaces and mood.

It is commonly found in room sprays, seasonal outdoor blends, bath products, and refreshing body care rituals.

In this section, let’s explore a few simple ways to bring the bright character of Lemongrass into everyday life.

Sometimes, even a small touch of freshness can completely change the atmosphere of a day.

🦟 Refreshing Outdoor Spray

Lemongrass is often included in natural outdoor sprays used during insect season.

Unlike some products that focus only on practicality, lemongrass offers both a refreshing scent and a useful seasonal purpose, making it a popular choice during the warmer months.

Its bright aroma combines beautifully with other fresh essential oils and works well in seasonal outdoor blends.

🧪 Outdoor Spray Blend

10 drops Lemongrass
5 drops Lavender
5 drops Tea Tree

50 ml Distilled Water

🌀 How to Use:

Shake well before use and spray lightly around outdoor seating areas or into the air as desired.

🌿 The fresh scent creates a cleaner and more comfortable atmosphere during the warmer months.

💆 Refreshing Blend for Shoulder Tension

One aromatherapy reference book introduced the following blend for shoulder and neck tension.

🧪 Shoulder Comfort Blend

25 drops Lavender Super
10 drops Lemongrass
10 drops Rosemary Camphor
5 drops Peppermint

3.5 ml Jojoba Oil
4 ml Foraha (Tamanu) Oil

🌀 How to Use:

Apply 2–3 drops to the shoulders or neck area as needed.

🌿 The cooling freshness of Peppermint and Lemongrass combines with the herbal character of Rosemary and the calming presence of Lavender, creating a blend that feels refreshing and supportive.

🕊️ Kaha’s Note

Among the scents I use during the warmer months, lemongrass is one of the most refreshing.

While it can be enjoyed in a variety of blends and recipes, my own approach is usually much simpler.

I often diffuse the oil at home or use a lemongrass water spray whenever I want to refresh a room or shift the atmosphere a little.

A quick spray in the living room, near my workspace, or even in the bathroom has become part of my summer routine.

As summer approaches in Japan, rooms can become quite hot during the day when the windows are kept closed.

Because of that, I keep my lemongrass spray in the refrigerator during the hotter months.

The cool mist and bright scent feel wonderfully refreshing when I return home.

It is such a simple thing, but it instantly lifts my mood and adds a bright touch to everyday life.
