🌑 Lead-in

Oi no Shimizu, an ancient sacred spring hidden in the mountains of Awaji Island.
This New Moon arrives in Leo, accompanied by a total solar eclipse — a remarkable celestial moment associated in astrology with themes of courage, creativity, self-expression, and stepping more fully into one’s own light.
For this New Moon Oracle, I received the messages a few days before the New Moon, on August 8.
In Japan, 2026 is Reiwa 8, making the date August 8, 2026 a striking alignment of numbers: 8・8・8.
On that day, I traveled to Awaji Island, first visiting Izanagi Jingū, an ancient shrine deeply connected with Japan’s creation mythology.
From there, I continued into the mountains to Oi no Shimizu (御井の清水), an ancient spring whose waters are mentioned in connection with Emperor Nintoku in the Kojiki. According to tradition, water from Awaji Island was carried to the imperial court for the Emperor’s use.
Today, Oi no Shimizu is also regarded by some as a place of particularly strong spiritual energy. Curious to experience the place for myself, I made my way up the mountain to visit the spring.
Surrounded by trees, mountain air, and sacred water, I could understand why some people might experience this place as a kind of water portal.
I had hoped to spend some quiet time there, but nature had other plans. The insects were particularly active that day, so my time at the spring was much shorter than I had expected.
Still, I found a few moments to pause, connect with the place, and draw the cards there for this New Moon Oracle.
Perhaps messages do not always arrive under perfect conditions.
Sometimes they simply arrive in the moments we are given.
This time, five pairs of cards appeared — each bringing together a Dragon card and a Katakamuna card.
⭐ How to Begin
Take a moment to settle into stillness.
If it feels right, close your eyes for a few breaths and allow your thoughts to soften.
You may wish to place a hand over your heart, hold a favorite crystal, or simply listen to the quiet around you.
When you feel ready, look at the five pairs of cards and notice which one draws your attention first.
At this stage, only the Dragon cards are revealed, while the Katakamuna cards remain hidden.
You may be drawn to a particular dragon, color, image, or simply to the feeling of one of the cards.
There is no need to analyze or choose logically.
Allow your intuition to guide you.

✨ Once you have chosen, scroll down to reveal the Katakamuna card paired with your Dragon card and read your message.
If more than one card catches your attention, feel free to choose more than one.

Now, take a look at the five revealed pairs. Does another one catch your attention?
And as you continue through the card explanations, another pair may suddenly stand out to you. If something resonates or catches your attention, you are welcome to receive that message as well.
✨ Your Messages
The messages below are offered as gentle guidance for this New Moon.
Take what resonates with you and leave the rest.
Intuition does not always speak in only one way.
Trust what draws you in at this moment.
💚 Card 1
Zero Dragon – Yin × Tanakahinoma — Space Between

Create space for something new to enter.
The Zero Dragon carries the fresh energy of a beginning. A new start can bring excitement and anticipation, but it can also stir uncertainty and many different emotions.
This card suggests that beginning something new may require you to reconsider some of the values, beliefs, or ways of thinking you have held until now.
Letting go of an old way of thinking creates space.
But there is no need to rush to fill that space immediately.
The Katakamuna message, Tanakahinoma, also speaks of creating a gap or interval. If you continue doing something simply because you feel you “have to,” even a fast and productive rhythm can gradually become mechanical.
Step away from the continuous flow for a moment.
Break one of the rules you have created for yourself. Give yourself time to do nothing, think about nothing, and simply relax.
Within that space, new ideas and new ways of doing things may begin to emerge naturally.
As you create room within yourself, your original energy can return, bringing renewed inspiration with it.
The message is simple:
Let go of what has become old.
Create space without rushing to fill it.
Allow fresh energy and inspiration to enter.
🧡 Card 2
Ascending Dragon – Yin × Michinonakachiha — Your Own Path

Your dream needs more than hope — it needs your own steps forward.
The Ascending Dragon reminds you not to mistake riding an upward current for simply relying on luck or the help of others.
Perhaps you have stepped back from a big dream, focusing instead on all the reasons it may not be possible.
But do not underestimate your own strength.
The greater your passion for making your dream a reality, the stronger the current can become, carrying you toward greater heights.
At the same time, wishing alone is not enough. You are being encouraged to take action yourself. Effort, preparation, and the process of moving forward are all part of what can help bring your dream into reality.
The Katakamuna message, Michinonakachiha, speaks of walking your own path.
Your path is created from your own thoughts, beliefs, values, and what matters deeply to you. Someone else’s path cannot become yours, no matter how hard you try to follow it.
If you have been comparing yourself with others, depending too much on a person, company, organization, or something outside yourself, it may be time to let that dependence go.
Turn your attention instead toward the passion and heartfelt desires within you.
As you stop comparing and judging yourself from the outside, a path that you have never seen before may begin to appear.
And when you become tired along the way, allow yourself to rest fully — and then begin moving again.
The message is simple:
Trust your own strength.
Walk your own path.
Take action toward the dream that matters to you.
🤍 Card 3
White Dragon – Yang × Fumari Tsutsu Umi — Connection

Trust what you have learned, and stay open to the new connections entering your life.
The White Dragon tells you that the many experiences you have gathered until now are beginning to come together and bloom.
By accepting everything that has happened as part of your learning, you have gained wisdom, ideas, skills, and knowledge along the way.
Trust those experiences.
The White Dragon is associated with flexibility and adaptability — the ability to learn humbly in different environments and to move forward from a place of untapped potential.
The choices and decisions you make now may eventually bear fruit in the future. Trust the feelings that arise from your intuition and continue forward.
The Katakamuna message, Fumari Tsutsu Umi, speaks of connection.
Through connections with people, places, things, or experiences outside yourself, something entirely new may be created — something you could not have imagined before.
Allow yourself to think freely and look again at something you may have been seeing from only one perspective. Inspiration may arrive when you reconsider it from another angle.
A new connection or relationship may also be entering your life.
If someone invites you somewhere and your heart responds, consider following that feeling. A new encounter may be waiting for you there.
This message also asks you to release assumptions about people you already know. Try meeting both familiar and unfamiliar people with fresh eyes.
The same applies to objects, tools, organizations, and the ordinary things around you. Looking at them differently may lead to an unexpected discovery or even a new collaboration.
The message is simple:
Trust what your experiences have taught you.
Stay flexible and follow your intuition.
Welcome the new connections that may open unexpected possibilities.
💙 Card 4
Water Dragon – Yang × Hitotsukatatsumi — Similar Patterns

Release your grip, recognize your patterns, and allow life to flow.
The Water Dragon reminds you that water can move in ways that are not possible on solid ground.
In the same way, when you free yourself from fixed ideas, new and more flexible possibilities can emerge.
Allow yourself to move with the flow rather than holding tightly to how things must be. When you can avoid accumulating stress, both work and your personal life may begin to move more smoothly, leaving you more space to enjoy your own time.
Everything is always changing.
Strong attachment or insistence can sometimes stop that natural movement. When you feel stuck, the Water Dragon also suggests returning to water itself — drinking plenty of fresh water or taking a bath may help you release stress and allow new inspiration to arise.
The Katakamuna message, Hitotsukatatsumi, invites you to notice the patterns that seem to repeat in your life.
Do you find yourself meeting similar kinds of people wherever you go, or experiencing the same kinds of situations again and again?
Within those repetitions may be clues to the beliefs you carry.
Your beliefs are your own sense of what is right. You do not need someone else to approve of them in order for them to be valid.
Give yourself permission to recognize your own beliefs and your own sense of what is right as part of who you are.
By doing so, you may begin to see the world differently — and the patterns that once seemed to repeat may begin to change.
The message is simple:
Notice the patterns that keep returning.
Release what you are holding too tightly.
Trust yourself, and allow a new flow to emerge.
💜 Card 5
Earth Dragon – Yin × Imaumi Hitoutsushi — Human

Honor your own pace and create a life in which you can truly feel happiness.
The Earth Dragon carries a calm and unhurried energy.
You may sometimes feel that things are taking too long, or criticize yourself because you cannot yet see the results you hoped for. But this card reminds you that everyone has their own pace, and there is no need to compare yourself with others.
Right now, you may simply be building your foundation through many different experiences.
Not all of those experiences will be easy or joyful. There are things to learn from failure and sadness as well.
Some things take time to accomplish.
You have both the ability to keep going and the patience to continue building, one step at a time. What you create through that steady process can eventually become something solid and convincing.
The Katakamuna message, Imaumi Hitoutsushi, turns your attention to the experience of being human and being here, now.
Feel with your own heart and think with your own mind.
You are allowed to create a life in which you feel happiness.
Notice what has been given to you in this life: your unique body, thoughts, abilities, love, senses, the natural world around you, and the many experiences that are possible because you are here.
You are free to feel, to think, and to choose how you move through this life.
And because this life has limits, perhaps those limits themselves allow us to recognize happiness more deeply.
The message is simple:
Move at your own pace.
Value the experiences that are shaping your foundation.
Create the life that feels meaningful and happy to you.
🌙 Kaha’s Note
That day on Awaji Island was filled with unexpected moments — but also with many wonderful encounters.
On the mountain path to and from Oi no Shimizu, I encountered eagles, butterflies, dragonflies, and even a rainbow-colored lizard.
I had thought the route would be simple. Getting there went smoothly, but on the way back, I took a wrong turn and ended up walking much farther than I had expected.
Looking back, perhaps I needed that extra time surrounded by the mountain and its energy — another kind of power charge along the way.
The entire day seemed to be filled with little surprises.
Almost as soon as I arrived at Izanagi Jingū, I spotted a turtle — and happened to be there at the very moment it suddenly dived into the sacred pond.
I also discovered some beautiful power stones that caught my attention, and the journey brought some lovely encounters with people as well.
It was only a one-day trip, but by the time I returned home, it felt wonderfully full.
This time, I did not have enough time at Oi no Shimizu to draw a separate card just for myself.
But when I looked at the five Dragon cards, I found myself especially drawn to the White Dragon.
Perhaps that was the message I needed to notice this time.
Which card called to you?
Although the Lions Gate has now passed, perhaps some of us may still feel its energy continuing to unfold.
Wherever you are in the world, I hope you are enjoying a beautiful season — a joyful summer for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, and a peaceful winter for those experiencing the opposite season.
May the days ahead bring you meaningful encounters, gentle surprises, and moments that make your own journey feel a little brighter. 🌈🐉

A little piece of Awaji Island to carry home with me.
