🌱 Lead-in
A small pot. A handful of soil. One tiny seedling.
That’s all it takes to begin your own little patch of green—and discover a world of magic, bringing magic to life in small ways—on your balcony or kitchen windowsill.
Parsley is often overlooked, used mostly as garnish or decoration. But what if you could grow it yourself, harvest it fresh, and enjoy both its flavor and health benefits at home?
In this first post of the Tiny Garden, True Magic series, we’ll explore how to grow parsley easily—even with no garden space. You’ll learn how to choose a pot, care for the plant, and discover fun facts and nutritional benefits. No experience needed. Just curiosity and a little sunshine.
🌿 How to Grow Parsley in Small Spaces
Parsley is one of the easiest herbs to grow—even with just a small pot and a sunny spot. It doesn’t ask for much, and it gives back a lot.
① Start with a Seedling or Small Pot from the Store
Seedlings are a great way to start. They’re available at garden centers, markets, or even grocery stores.
Choose a pot at least 20–25 cm (8–10 inches) wide and deep—even a 100-yen shop planter works well!
② Use Organic, Fertilizer-Enriched Soil
Use organic soil with natural compost or fertilizer. Parsley prefers well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Moist but not soggy.
③ Place It in the Sun, Water as Needed
Place in sunlight (4–6 hours/day). Water when the topsoil is dry. Avoid overwatering.
If you’re starting with a mature seedling, you might be able to harvest within a week or two.
I planted two or three seedlings, which was a great amount for both drying and fresh use.
A friend of mine uses parsley so much that hers never gets a chance to grow big!
If you just want a taste, one plant is fine. But since parsley shrinks when dried, try planting 2–3 if you want to store some.
☀️ Parsley Care Tips: Water, Sunlight & More
Parsley grows steadily with light and simple care.
💧 Water thoroughly when the soil is dry.
🌞 Give it morning sun or partial shade in summer.
✂️ Harvest from the outer stems and leave the inner ones to keep growing.
You don’t have to trim often—just use as needed and your plant will keep giving.

🌱 From Growing to Creating – Your First Creative Seed
You’ve planted it. You’ve watched it grow.
Now it’s time to create something with it.
If growing still feels like a lot, that’s totally fine.
Start with Creative Seed, where we’ll tell you how to make dried parsley at home—even with store-bought herbs.
This is how magic grows: from tiny green leaves to delicious, useful, homemade flavor.
🕊Kaha’s Note
Parsley might seem like just a garnish—but it’s actually packed with goodness.
I started mine in early spring, and used it all through April and May—
chopping into soups, adding to salads, and blending into smoothies.
But by July, it had already gone quiet. I didn’t even notice at first.
That’s why I dry it now—so I can keep a little of that fresh green feeling on hand.
If you’ve never tried growing herbs before, parsley is a lovely one to start with.
Just be sure to meet it at the right time—and it’ll give you more than you expect.
Wherever you live, don’t miss its best season. Let parsley grow with you, right when it matters most.
